HP Lacrosse goes to State

John Allen stops an ESD shot at the THSLL State Semi final match in Magnolia, Texas

Highland Park Lacrosse has two teams, Blue and Gold. The Blue team is mostly juniors and seniors, while the Gold team has no seniors.

Heading to the Texas High School Lacrosse League’s State Tournament held this year in Magnolia, Texas, the Blue team faced Dallas’ ESD team for the second time in two weeks. ESD had defeated HP previously by one goal. The teams arrived by bus and took the field. ESD got on the board first and held the lead the first half. It wasn’t until the third quarter the Scots came out scoring, leading ESD 6-5 after the third quarter. ESD took charge in the fourth quarter getting the 8-6 win, advancing to the State Final game against the Woodlands. ESD went on to easily defeat the Woodlands for the State Championship.

The Scots had opportunities but dropped passes and not taking advantage of man down opportunities were the difference against ESD. Scots goalie was playing with a broken thumb and still had a great game. Harris Sands scored three goals, Parker Anderson, Brian Rapp, Cameron Riley each scored a goal.

The Scots Gold team played their Texas High School Lacrosse League’s Class B semi final game against Lovejoy in a tough game at Magnolia West High School. HP came away with a 9-8 victory over Lovejoy to advance to the Championship game Sunday morning against a San Antonio team TMI Episcopal. The Scots lost 7-9 against TMI Episcopal.
