Henrik Johnson shoots and scores one of his 3 goals during the Scots 13-5 win over Westlake

Westlake was seeing Blue everywhere Saturday.  After a long drive in the rain Westlake faced off with the Scots Blue Lacrosse team at Highlander.

The first faceoff went to Westlake and that was about all that went their way.  Scots Carter Sutton took a shot from the outside that rifled past Westlake’s goalie.

Westlake scored but that was answered by a James Allen to Henrik Johnson catch and release to give the Scots a 2-1 lead in the first quarter.   After Westlake won another faceoff, they lost the ball that bounced around until Ford Blevins picked it up. Henrik Johnson made a quick pass to Colton Heinlen who promptly sent it back to Johnson for a shot and a goal.  Harrison Brown took a shot straight on the goalie for another Scots’ goal. After a Westlake goal, Carter Sutton took a shot with eight seconds left to give the Scots  a 5-2 lead going into the second quarter.

Westlake’s River Birch scored, Connor McCutchan scored again putting the Scots up 6-3. The Scots weren’t done, with just over five minutes left in the half James Allen connect with  Harrison Brown for another goal.  The luck of the Scots hit as Allen took a shot that bounced, hit the Westlake goalie’s leg, then the pipe and trickled into the goal.  Scots had an 8-4 lead going into the half.

In the third quarter Ford Blevin took a shot on the run to put the Scots up 9-5. Brown and Allen connected again and then Brown passed to Johnson for a shot to close out the quarter, Scots leading 11-5.

The fourth quarter was a little quiet, Hunt Henry took a shot from the middle for a score.  Quick consecutive passes from Dean Dulin to James Allen to Connor McCutchan closed out the scoring giving the Scots a 13-5 win over Westlake.

The Scots defense gave the attack plenty of time to work with the ball all day.  The Scots will meet up with Jesuit at Highlander, Wednesday night.
