Scots Lacrosse defeats Southlake Again

Colton Heinlen of Highland Park fires a shot into the Southlake goal during HP’s 13-6 State quarterfinal win over Southlake.

On a cool night at Highlander Stadium, the State quarterfinal game matched up Highland Park and Southlake again. Impending rain held off while the Scots offense attacked Southlake. The final score of 13-6 advances the Scots to next week’s State Semi Final game, Saturday, 2:00 pm at Highlander Stadium.

Even with a slow start the Scots showed how they have earned number one ranking in the State.  Not surprisingly, the Scots scoring started with a long Harrison Brown shot. Southlake answered with a goal of their own. James Allen put the Scots ahead 2-1 with  a close shot from the left side of the goal. With just over a minute and half left in the first quarter Carter Sutton ran through some traffic before shooting into the goal, Scots lead 3-1.

The second quarter showcased both teams scoring ability. Scots Henrik Johnson hit a shot from the left side of the goal putting Scots up 4-1. Southlake showed some grit scoring three straight goals, two from Zach Green. By halftime the game was tied at 5-5.

The second half was all Scots with two goals from Harrison Brown, two from Henrik Johnson, three from Colton Heinlen, one from Carter Sutton and two from James Allen. By the time the Scots were done they had beaten Southlake 13-6.

Scots advance to the State Semi Final game against Dallas Jesuit, Saturday, May 9th at Highlander Stadium at 2:00 pm.
