An Exciting Weekend at Texas Relays in Austin

This year marked the 98th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays meet, often referred to as The Texas Relays, held April 1-4 in the Mike A. Myers Stadium.

The meet attracts over 5,000 athletes, from high school and college teams. It is an honor to be invited to participate. 

The Lady Scots Track team sent three relay teams to the meet. Qualifying relays teams competed in the Distance Medley Relay, the 4 x 800 M Relay and the 4 x 400 M Relay.

The team of Presley Pate(1200), Kate McCarty(400), Ryan Sontag(800) and Finley Heckler (1600), with alternates, Stella Pruett and Captain Maddie Heckler placed 9th out of 17 teams.  The their time of 12:17:72  set a new school record.

Relay members on the 4×400 M Relay team, senior captain Gracelyn Nix, Devon Schumacher, Stella Pruett and Kate McCarty with alternates, Adelaide Wortman, Presley Pate and Ryan Sontag, placed 36 out of 56 teams.  Their time was 4:04:77.

Saving the best for last the Lady Scots 4 x 800 M relay team of Ryan Sontag, Adelaide Wortman, Presley Pate and Paisley Bassett medaled, coming in third place out of 13 teams.  The time of 9:30.50 was a new personal record . 

What a great accomplishment for all of these girls.

Highland Park Alum, John Rutledge, who runs for the University of Texas, along with his 4 x 100 relay teammates, Troy Mason Kendrick Smallwood and Jayden Jones placed third in the men’s 4 x100 with a time of 39.10.
