Scots Advance with 47-20 Victory

Another slow start for the Scots football team but, once they got things going there was no stopping them. Scoreless moving into the second quarter, the Scots began to make things happen. Buck Randall made a short run into the endzone to get the Scots on the scoreboard. Jack Swaldi took a pass and evaded tackles as he made it into the endzone for a 22 yard touchdown. Ronan Moreland came up with an interception, stopping Wakeland’s attempt to score.

Not able to capitalize on the interception, the Scots domination continued as a punt was downed deep in Wakeland’s territory. Wakeland found themselves backup to their own endzone; Dylan Palmer blasted through the line making a tackle just across the goal line for a safety.
Wakeland, who had been covering up Cannon Bozman all night, kicked off with Harrison Cullum catching the ball. After some razzle-dazzle starburst moves, Bozman had the ball and ran 73 yards for a Scots’ touchdown. Following a successful two-point conversion of a pass to Harrison Cullum just across the goal line, the Scots headed into halftime with a 24-0 lead.
Wakeland came back after halftime, clearly having made some adjustments. Jayden Maples threw touchdown passes to Grayson Meyer. Between those scores the Scots again went to Harrison Cullum who pulled in a 62 yard pass for a touchdown. Cullum ended the night with seven receptions for 136 yards.
Scots Buck Randall found Matthew White for a 33 yard pass with him scoring a touchdown. Wakeland tried to keep it interesting with long pass DJ Summons for a touchdown but, it wasn’t enough to catch the Scots. The Scots wrapped up the night with Isaiah Lee making a short run up the middle, falling backwards into the endzone and a Sutton Stock field goal.
By game’s end the Scots had 572 yards offensively and had forced one Wakeland interception. The safety by Dylan Palmer gave the Scots an advantage just before half.
Defensively the Scots showed their depth, Thomas Cook had a huge quarterback sack and others like Beau Jones, Graham Rogers, Jack Sumner, Martin True and Ronan Moreland along with the whole defense made important stops.
Scots advance to the Regional finals with the score of 47-20. Next Friday they will again head to the Star in Frisco at 7pm, to meet their third Frisco team in as many weeks, Frisco Lone Star.
The Scots will need to get off to a good start in the first quarter to stay ahead of Lone Star.
