Annual scrimmage against Plano East held at Highlander Stadium

It was no surprise that the evening was hot and balmy at Highlander Stadium when the Scots scrimmaged the Panthers of Plano East. What has become a tradition, HP and a Plano team scrimmage before the regular season games, alternating locations between Highland Park and Plano. Anyone willing to sweat out a few pounds of fluids was welcome to watch. Parents of players and a few onlookers took to the stands, most huddled as high as they could to sit in the shade of the press box. Others sat under umbrellas. By the time the sun began to settle, a light breeze made the whole experience more tolerable. Once again the Scots tried different combinations of players to see how they would stand up against an opponent. The running game looked solid, Varsity returners Wilson Axley picked up yards as reliably as he did last year, along with Keller Holmes who showed his fancy footwork as he scuttled past Plano players. Showing he has staying power Cooper Schendle ran through traffic. The Scots defense demonstrated they could apply pressure and make tackles and stop the running game. Junior returner Jack Morse along with seniors Henry Richter, Cormac Carroll and Wes Giese are all names you will recognize from last year’s defense. All in all the Scots continue to field teams that can hold their own against opponents,. This season should be a fun one to watch as they work their way through their 6A schedule starting next Friday at Lewisville.
