Scots defeat Rangers 42-14

The Scots lead by Buck Randall runaway with a 42-14 win over Jesuit.

Football is a team sport; it takes everyone to get a win. Scots are dealing with some injuries, but Matthew White returned for the Jesuit game, as running back, adding an extra spark to the Scots’ offense. In front of what was supposedly a sellout crowd, Buck Randall found Case Messer for a 26-yard touchdown pass early in the first quarter.

Scots continued to dominate Jesuit, a dramatic 77-yard touchdown pass to Cannon Bozman was followed by a Martin True interception.  Taking advantage of the interception, Buck Randall ran up the middle for 45 yards to put the Scots ahead 21-0 in the first quarter.

The Rangers scored their first touchdown of the season in the second quarter with Cade Kirby taking an 11-yard Beck Berry pass to dive into the endzone. The Scots answered with a 72-yard pass to Matthew White for a touchdown.

White finished up the night with 233 all-purpose yards, including 83 yards rushing and 150 yards receiving. In the fourth quarter, the Scots added a touchdown from Charlie Olmstead, who dove near the endzone, holding the ball just over the goal line somehow without dropping it.

Workhorse running back Isaiah Lee scored his first touchdown of the season on a 12-yard run up the middle. Defensively, the Scots had four interceptions, two from Ronan Moreland, one from Martin True, and one from Dean Williams.

The Scots will host Pulaski Academy from Arkansas next Friday, September 19th, at Highlander Stadium. Kickoff will be at 7pm.
