New Look for Theparkcitiesnews.com

Park Cities News Paper

After months of redesigning and a lot of work behind the scenes, we have a new look thanks to Cole Feigl and his team at Nativz. In addition to making the layout more newspaper-like, our logo has a fresh new look while paying tribute to the original logo of The Park Cities News, which dates back to 1938. Having worked with a printed paper version for years, I missed the weekly paper that just disappeared one day.

The Park Cities News originated in 1938. Marj Waters along with Kermit Hunter, retired SMU Dean of Fine Arts purchased the paper in 1977 from Jewell Morris. Waters’ family owned papers in New Mexico, her brothers gave her some guidance.

Waters and Hunter enlisted Bob Mann, who was the Chairman of SMU’s school of journalism. Mann oversaw the staff and updated the layout.

Ultimately Marj Waters was joined by two of her three sons, after they finished college, Pete Waters and Tom Waters. Pete’s first love was photography, he worked to make the Park Cities News visually appealing with quality photos. Tom worked on society news. The paper continued to be printed by the Waters family until 2021.

We are excited to bring back The Park Cities News in an online format .
